Code Rush documentary
Does anyone have or know how to get a copy of Code Rush, the documentary on Netscape that PBS aired in 2000? It’s not currently available for purchase through PBS or Amazon and I haven’t been able to get through to the producer. We’d like to check it out and (if we receive permission) add it to the memory bank.

See if you can check it out of your local library.

I have a copy, but I don’t necessarily know how copyright law applies in a case like this and I am not the copyright owner. However, my school (Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology) is developing a Center for Web History and I have suggested that they get in contact with your group. I do not know if they actually have yet, though. If you haven’t been contacted and would like to cooperate in some form, let me know.
I may have the producer’s email address somewhere. Send me email and I’ll see what I can find. I know there are a few copies around the office.
Olivia, if retraced and legal to publish; do so. Interesting extra information perhaps for my research.
Did anything happen with this? I’d love to see this documentary, but aside from $100+ second hand VHS copies off of Amazon, I can’t find it anywhere.
Unfortunately we have not been able to locate a copy of it, and our efforts to reach the director have been fruitless. If anyone has any leads on this, we would be most grateful.
I think there are some copies on Amazon:

Though I think they are way to expensive.
A clip of the documentary can be viewed online:

David Winton (who I recall being the producer) was last reachable at: David Winton .
When I spoke with him in January 2005, he said that he planned to make a DVD.
Crap. Filtered out his address. That was winton (at) wdfilms (dot) com.
The documentary I’ve seen also in The Netherlands, where could I get a DVD or something about it in the USA?
Many thanks,

I have wanted to see this for a long time, it was on Google Video a couple of weeks ago, but it stopped working before I could watch it (it just gives an error page now)
Yeh, looking for this too.. Maybe somewhere online ;p
I found the DVD I can put it again on Youtube for ANON if that is allowed? Don’t know for sure…
@geld lenen.
Where did you find this???
Hey, I’m the anon guy 4 posts up – I finally found this documentary on Viddler! I’ll finally get to watch it! This seems like an important historical documentary about software development – too important to be forgotten. Hopefully the producer (or whoever owns the rights) will manage to get a DVD release together someday.
BTW, the only way I could manage to download from Viddler is to leave the Firefox window open until the whole thing is downloaded, and then use hobocopy to copy the cached file from my Windows “Temp” directory.
