Mozilla Digital Memory Bank Blog » Uncategorized http://mozillamemory.org/blog Mon, 06 Jan 2020 21:04:50 +0000 en-US hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=4.2.2 Do You http://mozillamemory.org/blog/2008/06/do-you-heart-firefox/ http://mozillamemory.org/blog/2008/06/do-you-heart-firefox/#comments Tue, 17 Jun 2008 18:57:27 +0000 http://mozillamemory.org/blog/?p=29 We recently went out and interviewed George Mason University students who were Firefox users, to get their impressions of the FF user experience. We hadn’t been received any video submissions, yet, so it seemed a good way to show off our capacity to host video. Check out a few examples here, here, and here.

Looking through the videos, we realized we had the makings of a good promotional video to try to help get the word out about the Memory Bank. A little bit of video editing later, and we’d put together the first Mozilla Digital Memory Bank Promo Video:

Check it out– send it to anyone you think might be interested in the Memory Bank! Help get the word out!

(And if you really enjoyed the video, a longer version– the “director’s cut,” if you will– can be found here.)

In a similar vein, trying to get the word out, we’ve recently created a Facebook page and a LiveJournal page, in addition to our Youtube page.

It was an interesting interview, and I highly recommend listening to the full interview which you can find here.

Episode 10 Blake Ross http://mozillamemory.org/blog/2007/06/episode-10-blake-ross/ http://mozillamemory.org/blog/2007/06/episode-10-blake-ross/#comments Wed, 13 Jun 2007 20:47:40 +0000 http://mozillamemory.org/blog/2007/06/episode-10-blake-ross/ Firefox co-founder Blake Ross agreed to meet with us at a California public library last June, for an interview. We didn’t realize, however, the intricacies of reserving space in a study room. Several contradictory answers and one library card later, we finally were able to sit down with Blake. His ideas about Firefox, Mozilla, and open source were truly unique, and I highly recommend visiting the archive to hear the entire interview.

New Interview http://mozillamemory.org/blog/2006/08/new-interview/ http://mozillamemory.org/blog/2006/08/new-interview/#comments Wed, 30 Aug 2006 17:50:14 +0000 http://mozillamemory.org/newblog/?p=14 The transcriptions have finally begun to come back to us, and we are excited to announce a new oral history has been added to the Digital Memory Bank. A recording of Olivia Ryan’s interview with Mike Beltzner on June 5, 2006 is now available here. We hope to be presenting a new interview every two weeks from now on.

We would once again encourage further contributions. Send us your photos, emails, IRC logs! Since we are still assembling the early history of Mozilla, and pertinent objects related to the decisions to release the source would be greatly appreciated. If you lack the time to upload these files yourself please email me at mozmem@gmail.com and hopefully we can set up an alternate method to transfer the files.

Code Rush documentary http://mozillamemory.org/blog/2006/08/code-rush-documentary/ http://mozillamemory.org/blog/2006/08/code-rush-documentary/#comments Mon, 07 Aug 2006 16:23:05 +0000 http://mozillamemory.org/newblog/?p=13 Does anyone have or know how to get a copy of Code Rush, the documentary on Netscape that PBS aired in 2000? It’s not currently available for purchase through PBS or Amazon and I haven’t been able to get through to the producer. We’d like to check it out and (if we receive permission) add it to the memory bank.

– Olivia

Mountain View http://mozillamemory.org/blog/2006/07/mountain-view/ http://mozillamemory.org/blog/2006/07/mountain-view/#comments Fri, 28 Jul 2006 13:43:26 +0000 http://mozillamemory.org/newblog/?p=12 We would like to belatedly thank everyone who took time to meet with us during our trip to Mozilla last month. All of the oral histories were great and will be added to the archive as we receive the transcriptions. For now we are moving into a new interviewing phase, using instant messaging, Skype, and email to conduct both new and follow-up interviews.

We now have a fairly firm date of September 15 for a publicity campaign and broader public launch. So if you have a chance please take a minute to dig up your favorite Mozilla artifacts and add them to the archive!
